I agree the saving is quite annoying, it takes ages, very odd. The OF and ToV standalones in your library are similar to the COH (Legacy) one in that they can also be a bit buggy compared to just playing the Steam version's DLCs. You are correct that with the new steam version (one labeled just "Company of Heroes") all the campaigns from Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor can be played while only having the base game installed since if you check the DLC tab for the base game steam version, OF and ToV are included as DLC to the base steam version. The legacy edition can be a bit more buggy and as you said its only really kept around for the sake of old mods including the COH mods that are on Steam like Great War or Eastern Front etc. This mod will NOT overwrite your Company of Heroes data. This mod will NOT have you banned, but you will not be able to play with others unless they have the mod and are playing it as well.
Idk how a game from 1998 SC1 has a quick save but a modern game downs lol This mod will allow you to play as any faction on any side, so battles such as the Army vs. And its annoying to save cuz no quick save, and saving even on a 5gbps SSD takes almost 10 seconds. The AI has a mind of its own like 5% of the time. this games challenge in SP comes from if your can control your units.
Plus I think all the expansions you can play via the base game.
